This is general information

Sewer Line Fixes publishes general guidance about residential sewer lines. It isn’t plumbing, engineering, legal or insurance advice about your property — we haven’t seen your pipe, your policy or your city’s rules.

The tools produce planning estimates from the figures you enter. Real prices, coverage decisions and responsibility rules vary by location, contractor and policy. Confirm anything important with a licensed plumber, your sewer utility and your insurer before spending money or deciding not to.

Health and safety

Health & safety

Sewage and sewer gas are health hazards. If sewage is backing up, keep people and pets away from it. If you smell rotten eggs you can’t tie to a drain, leave the building and call your gas utility from outside. Never enter a sewer, manhole, septic tank or excavation — they can contain toxic gases and collapse.
